Trophic Levels
At the bottom of the pyramid is the Zion Shooting Star (Dodecatheon pulchellum). It represents the producer level.
On the second "rung" of the pyramid is the Mule Deer (Odocoileus hemionus). It represents the primary consumer, which feeds on the producers.
At the very top of the pyramid is the secondary consumer, represented by the Cougar, or Mountain Lion, (Puma concolor). The secondary consumer primarily feeds on the primary consumer.
